Women's International - Fiji v Japan

Japan Women's Rugby team scored an upset 28 - 14 win over Fiji at Bond University.

Many expected the Fiji to be too strong for Japan, after the Fijiana Drua completed an unbeaten season in the Australia Super W, however Japan were excellent at the breakdown, and came away with a 4 try to 2 win.

The 'Road to New Zealand' series is a tri-nation international Women's Rugby series between Australia, Fiji and Japan, as part of the preparations for the Rugby World Cup 2022 in New Zealand later this year.

Fixtures:

  • Fiji v Japan - 1st May 2022, Bond University

  • Fiji v Wallaroos - 6th May 2022, Suncorp Stadium

  • Japan v Wallaroos - 10th May 2022, Bond University

Japan 28 (Tries: Sena Saito, Mana Furuta, Ayano Nagai, Penalty Try; Conversions: Ai Hirayama 3) defeated Fiji 14 (Tries: Younis Bese; Roela Radiniyavuni; Conv: Vitalina Naikore)
